MALA GANGULY & DAVID VITO GREGOLI

As a professional touring and recording concert artist who performs regularly throughout North America, Mala is highly acclaimed within and without the Indian communities for her golden, "mellifluous" voice and spontaneous vocal improvisations. Her remarkable live performances give her audiences an inspired and impassioned experience of the heart and soul through an exploration of the Classical and Semi-Classical styles of North Indian vocal music. She’s studied with many classical masters and has performed/recorded with luminaries such as Ali Akbar Khan, Ravi Shankar, Jai Uttal and Cheb I Sabbah. Mala continues to transcend musical boundaries in her latest project, which boasts an infectious, contemporary edge through her collaboration with Producer/Multi Instrumentalist David Vito Gregoli.

David Vito Gregoli is somewhat of a “renaissance man” with many talents in many styles. Yet the unifying theme is his passion for truth in the creative process, exemplified by his dedication to the dharmic path and a socially-conscious lifestyle. This honesty and courage brings fresh insight as he successfully explores new and daring confluences of musical influences.
As a resident of his native L.A. who’s had brief stints in San Francisco & Seattle, David Vito’s longtime involvement in the music industry has yielded a deep understanding and appreciation of the fine nuances of musicality. “I think of myself as a Sound Painter,” Gregoli explains, “with the music & musicians as the brushes, canvas & paint.” Known for his intriguing blends of diverse musical genres, Gregoli brings out the passion and intensity of Ganguly’s traditional styles, resulting in music that is both more accessible and energizing, sublime and fun.

The new CD, “Prana - Healing Tones for Life” is an east/west ambient fusion of Indian vocals on a luscious bed of Soundcape by multi- intrumentalist David Vito Gregoli & Indian vocal diva Mala Ganguly. Guest artists include Nepalese flutist Manose (Deva Premal) & didgeridu wizard Stephen Kent (Steve Roach).
